AU Alumni network – Membership Terms & Conditions


Who can join
The AU Alumni Network is a professional and social network for all alumni (graduates) from Aarhus University (AU) - including from previously independent educational institutions which have been merged with AU.


The following can also become members:   

  • former exchange students who have spent one or more semesters at AU  

  • current students, including exchange students, from the day they begin their studies at AU 

  • Former and current employees



The Network has been established to support the development of strong and life-long relations between the University and its alumni as well as engaged and rewarding interactions between alumni and between alumni, students, and employees. We wish to help alumni stay in touch with each other and stay up to date with news, research and development, and muh more. We also wish to help our alumni become involved in events, anniversaries and various forms of alumni relations volunteer work etc.


What does membership entail

Membership is free of charge and non-binding. You are, however, responsible for ensuring that the information you provide when signing up as well as continually is accurate and up to date at all times. Naturally, this is particularly important in relation to your email address, your occupation and your communication preferences to ensure that the information, offers and requests that we send you are as targeted and relevant as possible - and not least that they reach you. 

As a member of the Alumni Network, you benefit from a number of services and offers provided by Aarhus University.  You can see the current membership benefits here.


Processing your personal data

When you sign up to join the AU Alumni Network, you consent to us processing your personal data as described in the AU Alumni Network – rules and procedures for processing personal data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) 

When you consent to receiving information from us, we will send you information that is relevant to you based on the information you have provided on your education (degree(s), courses etc), geography (location), nationality and occupation (job title and organisation) - supplemented by the specific interests that you have added to your membership profile. Your consent is thus an integral part of your membership and can only be withdrawn if you leave the Alumni Network. 

You may, however, at any time change your interest specification - and thereby the nature and extent of the content covered by your consent. You do so through the link at the bottom of the emails you receive from us or by getting a link sent directly to your email by clicking here.

Duration of membership

Your membership continues until you leave the Alumni Network. If you no longer wish to be a member, simply send an email to alumni@au.dk Naturally, we would be interested in knowing why you are leaving, but this is in no way a requirement.

Should you change your mind and wish to sign up again, you must send an email to us at alumni@au.dk before you can be reregistered as a member.
