Membership rules


The alumni network is offered by Aarhus University (AU) and all alumni are welcome to become a member. Alumni are former students who have graduated from AU, or spent one or more semesters at AU as an exchange student.

Employees and former employees as well as students are also welcome to become members.

When you register as a member, you agree to the terms in this agreement.

Registration of person information

We need some information about you to manage your membership and provide you with the best possible service, including targeted information and relevant offers for you.

When you register, we ask for your Danish CPR number. We use this information to match the information you register with information about you in our administrative systems. We also have an overview of your degrees and courses from AU’s student administrative system. You are not able to edit these yourself but if the information is incorrect, you are welcome to contact us via and we will update the information.

You can update your preferences about what you want to receive from us. As default, you receive news, event invitations, offers, and continued education offers, when you register your free membership. However, you can always adjust or unsubscribe at the bottom of the emails or have a direct link sent to you here:

All membership information is owned by AU. When transferring information to AU, you agree to AU’s use of the information.

Person information is continuously deleted or anonymised in accordance with finalising the purpose, that the information was collected for.

​Protection of information

We have taken a number of technical and organizational security precautions designed to protect your data from theft and hacking as well as against unauthorized disclosure, abuse or other processing in violation of the EU General Protection Regulation (GDPR) or the Danish Data Protection Act.

Person information is transferred via a secure, encrypted connection and all person data is protected behind a firewall. AU will under no circumstances exchange personal data with third parties without your consent.

We cannot guarantee security of data transferral on the internet 100%. This means, there may be a risk of an outside party hacking access unwarranted when data is sent and stored digitally. Hence, you submit your personal data at your own risk.

Within the extend that person information is processed about you, you are allowed to have the data concerning your profile disclosed. If it shows that any of the information about you is untrue or misleading, you have the right to have these warranted, deleted, or blocked. At any time, you can object to information about you being processed. At any time, you can retrieve your general consent. You have the option to complain about the processing of information and data concerning you. Official complaint may be lodged with the Danish Data Protection Agency, cf. General Data Protection Regulation art 77 and the Data Protection Act § 39. 

Rules for use of the alumni network

It is your responsibility to ensure that the information about you in your profile is accurate and up to date, including that there is always a valid e-mail address registered in your profile, so that we have the opportunity to contact you with relevant invitations, news, and offers.

Cancellation of membership

If for some reason you no longer wish to be a member, simply write to Feel free to let us know why you do not want to be a member any longer (not mandatory).
